One haircut today, and that was first thing this morning.
My winter duffel was too heavy for the hanger – it snapped.
Dinner was a discount cottage pie and yesterday’s beer.
I dried the crockery on the arse of my jeans.
The cutlery I dried on my sleeve.
The laundry hangs in the August summer rain.
My face adornments wait for the heat pipe’s groan.
I hope this isn’t portentous, but even if it is…
[I’ve shied away from any plague poetry – not that this qualifies as poetry, per se – there seemed so little to say. But I thought I’d put my thruppence-worth in today]
Be ace out there xo
A bit bleak yes, but your lyricism is touching and beautiful. And that gives us hope.

The rain has stopped, the heat is on and I found a beer hidden in the bottom rack!
Happy days!
🙂 Thanks, Bob.

Thanks!
I just read a BBC article about dropping poetry tests, as you mentioned. That’s a shame.

As plague poetry goes, this isn’t half-bad! It could apply to desolation of spirit from any number of different causes.

Odd, but this poem made me chuckle with fondness. Days like this makes me reset my gratitude button for all the tiny, terrific things…☮️ + ❤️
